The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is undertaking improvements and widening of the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) Fort Erie-bound from east of Guelph Line to Northshore Boulevard, through the City of Burlington.

The Project involves:

  • The widening of the median portion of the QEW to accommodate a HOV lane in each direction.

  • The rehabilitation of existing QEW Fort Erie-bound lanes, interchange ramps and existing bridge structures.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has awarded the construction contract to Alliance Verdi Civil Inc. GHD Limited has been retained and is responsible for Construction Contract Administration.  Construction will commence in May 2026 and is expected to continue for four years, with an anticipated Completion Date in November 2029.
