QEW Improvements and Widening, Fort Erie Bound from east of Guelph Line to Northshore Boulevard

Project Background
The project involves the widening of the QEW to accommodate high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes in both Toronto-bound and Fort Erie-bound directions, and rehabilitating existing lanes, interchange ramps and existing structures.
Work will include grading, drainage, granular base, hot mix paving, structural, electrical, median barrier, signing and storm sewer installations. The project extends 5.7 km from north of Northshore Blvd to east of Guelph Line and aims to enhance traffic flow and improve transportation infrastructure in the region.
Key Components of the construction contract include:
Widening of the QEW to accommodate a median HOV lane in each direction on the QEW from east of Brant Street to south of Fairview Street;
Widening and rehabilitation of existing bridges over Brant Street, CNR Corridor, and Fairview Street;
Rehabilitation of six existing bridges along the QEW included:
QEW Fort Erie Bound overpass at Brant Street
QEW Toronto Bound overpass at Brant Street
QEW Fort Erie Bound overpass at CNR corridor
QEW Fort Erie Bound overpass at CNR corridor
Hwy 403/Hwy 407 ramp to Fairview Street ramp over CNR corridor
QEW Fort Erie Bound overpass at Fairview Street
New tall wall median barrier;
QEW mainline pavement rehabilitations;
Pavement rehabilitation of QEW Fort Erie Bound interchange ramps at Guelph Line, Brant Street and Fairview Street, including Highway 407 on-ramp;
Replacement of Overhead Sign Structures;
Installation and upgrades to lighting; and
Drainage improvements, including new median storm sewers at new Tall Wall barrier locations.
